Day Eleven

Robb and I took a walk on the beach out in front of the Ice Barn and discovered that it is covered in scallop shells.  After discovering this I decided that I would make some Christmas tree ornaments out of them and then suggested to Chelli we could use them on the table as favors for Christmas dinner.  This morning, when the weatherman was proven wrong and the sun was shining we took a break and collected shells for awhile.(He wasn't wrong about the cold).
In just a few minutes

Amazing how many there are

We had collected more than enough for both projects.

This photo is looking up the Tay or Bay as we would say.

Robb suggested a swim, oops I forgot my bathing suit.  Sorry No.

And this one is looking across to the City of Dundee on the other side of the Tay.

After we had come in from collecting the shells Robb worked on the night stand repair (successful!).  When he was finished he brought me a book he had found on the shelf.  It is by Rosamunde Pilcher and is a collection of three of her novels.  I was introduced to Rosamunde Pilcher by my Mum-in-law, Jean,  many years ago when she gave me a copy of Mrs. Pilcher's most well known book called, "The Shell Seekers"  It  made goose bumps go up my arms when I saw her name and the book.  Curious about the author I did a google search and, as it happens, Mrs. Pilcher is still alive,(87 years young)  and lives in Dundee, only five miles from here.  It's a small world!  I look forward to reading these next three books and knowing she lives so close to us.

P.S. The book was made into a TV movie with Angela Lansbury in the main role and was very good, but I recommend  the book, it is one that will touch your heart.

Word for the day:   Filter (as used on highway signs) = Merge

Dawn
